Kicking off Lunar New Year, guests of Asia Society will receive "free" admission into the Drawn from Nature exhibition in honor of Madame Y. Ping Sun.

Ping is a strong supporter of Asia Society and currently serves on its Executive Committee as a vice chair of the board of directors. Ping came to Houston from New York City in 2004 with her husband David W. Leebron who currently serves as Rice University's seventh president. Ping practiced law in the New York offices of White & Case LLP and Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP, and is currently of counsel with the law firm, Yetter Coleman LLP. She received her law degree from Columbia University School of Law.

Ping's commitment to the community is evidenced by her involvement at Rice University and throughout the city of Houston. At Rice, she serves as the Rice University Representative and a member of the advisory board of Rice's Shepherd School of Music and the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, and as honorary co-chair of Rice's Baker Institute Roundtable. She is also a trustee of Texas Children's Hospital, a board member of BARC, Center for Houston's Future, Hermann Park Conservancy, Teach For America and the United Way of Greater Houston. She also serves on the advisory board of Asian Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Community Center, Houston Arts Alliance, and the Mayor's International Trade and Development Council for Asia/Australia. She is invited frequently as a speaker or panelist to take part in various leadership summits and conferences, such as the Youth Leadership Forum and Houston Independent School District's Asian-American College and Career Day. For her contribution to our community, the City of Houston designated April 23, 2015 as "Y. Ping Sun Day" in Houston.
