Zoom Offers Video Breakout Rooms to All Customers

Video Conferencing Leader Provides Video Breakout Rooms to All Zoom Accounts

/EINPresswire.com/ -- SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - December 01, 2015) - Video conferencing provider Zoom Video Communications, Inc. today announced that it has provided Video Breakout Rooms to all Zoom users, including free accounts. Video Breakout Rooms allow the Zoom meeting host to create smaller groups within a larger meeting or training session. This new feature holds many benefits for Zoom customers:

  • Flexible: Allows employees and students to work more productively in smaller teams as needed. A team can alert the host when they need help, and the host can visit any of the breakouts to assist and answer questions.
  • Feature-Rich: In their Video Breakout Rooms, attendees can use video, audio, chat, whiteboards, and screen sharing to collaborate.
  • Scalable: Main meeting can hold up to 200 attendees; the host can automatically or manually divide meeting participants into up to 50 breakouts.

Zoom is used by over 80% of the top 200 US universities. Video Breakout Rooms enhance the user experience, allowing educators to divide their classrooms into smaller groups, organizational leaders to break up teams for group work and collaboration, and corporations to facilitate employee training and team building activities.

"At The University of Tennessee, we requested the addition of Video Breakout Rooms to Zoom, and we are excited that they have arrived. As is typical with the entire Zoom experience, this new feature is intuitive and works with ease. Video Breakout Rooms are an essential function for synchronous course delivery and allow our online instructors to engage in important collaborative and team-based activities in a structured manner. This feature is especially important for our online Executive MBA programs, online Social Work programs, and our online Nursing programs, to mention a few. Our teaching faculty are thrilled with the addition of Video Breakout Rooms for all of their teaching and learning activities," said Joel Reeves, Assistant Vice Chancellor and CIO at The University of Tennessee.

"Our customers, particularly those in the education and training sectors, have been asking for Video Breakout Rooms. We're happy to provide this important feature to all Zoom customers -- free and paid -- so they can easily collaborate in groups small and large," said Eric S. Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom.
