«Gazprom Neft» increases sales of polymer-modified bitumens by more than one third in the first nine months of 2015

Gazpromneft Bitumen Materials, operator of the Gazprom Neft bitumens business, has increased sales volumes of high-technology polymer-modified bitumens (PMBs) by more than 37 percent, to 47,000 tonnes.

Premium bitumens are produced at the company’s Omsk Refinery, at its Ryazan bitumens plant — the most significant PMB production facility in Russia — and at the Gazprom Neft joint venture with France’s TOTAL, TOTAL PMB.

The company’s bitumen products meet all Russian and international quality standards. The company has supplied PMBs for major Russian road projects throughout 2015, including construction of the M10 “Russia”, M2 “Crimea”, M4 “Don”, M8 “Kholmogory” and M18 “Kola” major federal highways, as well as the Moscow and St Petersburg ring roads.

Gazpromneft Bitumen Materials CEO Dmitry Orlov commented: “The long-term strategy for the Gazprom Neft’s bitumens business envisages our achieving technological leadership within the Russian bitumen materials market. In order to meet this objective we are, already, now implementing innovations and fine-tuning the formulation of our materials, allowing us to produce high-technology products for the construction of high-quality road surfaces, more resistant to cracking and wear even under heavy traffic loads.”

Established in October 2014, Gazpromneft Bitumen Materials (Gazpromneft BM LLC) is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, specialising in the production and sale of bitumen products and leading the domestic market, achieving sales of 1.8 million tonnes of bitumen materials in 2014.

The company produces road, construction and roofing bitumens, as well as polymer-modified bitumens and binders (specifically G-Way Styrelf), and a range of emulsions and fillers.

Gazprom Neft uses a variety of transport solutions to ensure the supply of bitumen materials throughout Russia, the CIS, and abroad. The company’s facilities in Omsk, Yaroslavl and Ryazan are equipped with specialist packaging production lines allowing the transportation of bitumen products throughout the country’s most remote and inaccessible regions.

*Polymer—bitumen binders are based on traditional bitumens, with the addition of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) polymers and a plasticizer. Polymer—bitumen binders demonstrate better quality in comparison with traditional bitumen, including greater resistance to warping, better endurance under extreme temperatures, and greater resistance against deterioration.
