A Shoebox Gift Can Change the Life of a Child, Even Mine

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - November 20, 2015) - Working at Samaritan's Purse -- a member charity of Community Health Charities -- has been life-changing. Admittedly, I had to sharpen up on my geography knowledge when I started in order to be familiar with the 100 plus countries in which we work. Now, I have the privilege of learning about all of our relief and development programs to help our representatives stay informed about our work around the world.
Operation Christmas Child is one such project, through which we deliver gift-filled shoeboxes to children affected by war, poverty and natural disasters. Many of these children have never received a gift before. But beyond the obvious thrill of blessing a child who may not have much in the way of material possessions, items in the shoebox can open new doors and change the trajectory of a child's life. You can read about Alex and the candy cane, Yuliya and her puppy and Timur and Crest toothpaste -- these stories and so many more demonstrate how Operation Christmas Child is changing the lives of children around the world.
