ELY, ENGLAND, November 2, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Cyber security consultancy firm and CREST-accredited certification body IT Governance has helped CQR Consulting achieve certification to Cyber Essentials.

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “I am pleased to congratulate CQR on their successful certification. Cyber Essentials compliance is fast becoming a necessity for organisations wishing to do business in the UK.

“Cyber Essentials-certified companies have an edge over their competitors and are leading the way in good cyber hygiene.”

Greg Inge, managing director for CQR, says, “CQR are delighted to have been awarded Cyber Essentials certification and are pleased to be helping build a trusted and resilient digital environment across the UK.

“Our company is driven by our commitment to “Making the World a Safer Place”. Alongside our ISO27001 and 22301 certifications, CQR can provide our clients with assurance that we are aware of and protected against cyber security threats. In an-ever changing digital world understanding these threats is a fundamental requirement to managing business risk. CQR are proud to be part of the Cyber Essentials scheme.”

CQR is one of over 1,000 companies that have already been certified to the Cyber Essentials scheme. Compliance with the scheme is a requirement when bidding for UK Government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information.

There are two levels of certification: (1) Cyber Essentials and (2) Cyber Essentials Plus. The scheme mandates the implementation of five key controls for both levels: secure configuration, boundary firewalls and Internet gateways, access control and administrative privilege management, patch management and malware protection.
Certification to Cyber Essentials involves the completion of a self-assessment questionnaire (SAQ), and an external vulnerability scan. Certification to Cyber Essentials Plus includes an additional internal vulnerability scan and on-site assessment.

As a CREST-accredited certification body, IT Governance provides cost-effective solutions for companies wishing to achieve certification to the scheme.

More information about the Cyber Essentials scheme can be found on the IT Governance website.
