Study: Latent EBV is Associated with Severe Brain Problems; The CBCD Examines the Medical Evidence

The Epstein Barr Virus is gaining attention as a dangerous virus since its reactivation gives rise to a wide spectrum of neurological diseases. (1)

EBV infects more than 90% of the general population before adulthood.

“Infected with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Reviews of the available medical literature show that the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is associated with a wide range of neurological (brain related) diseases. As Dr. Pizzigallo and colleagues wrote in a review “EBV-associated neurological syndromes represent … complications in infectious mononucleosis, and include acute encephalitis, meningitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), cerebellitis and myelitis.” (2) All of the diseases mentioned by Dr. Pizzigallo are serious illnesses of the brain and central nervous system. Dr. Pizzigallo is from the Clinic of Infectious Diseases – Department of Medicine and Aging at the “G. D’Annunzio” University of Chieti in Italy.

EBV is very common. “EBV infects B and T lymphocytes of more than 90% of the general population before adulthood. Primary infection results in transient viremia (a temporary, acute infection with clear symptoms) followed by a rapid immune response.” (3) EBV is also associated with a growing number of cancers.

Symptoms associated with the illnesses mentioned include: fever, sore throat, swollen lymph glands in the neck and armpits, headache, fatigue, muscle weakness, swollen tonsils, night sweats, changes in mental state, such as confusion, drowsiness or disorientation, seizures (fits), changes in personality and behavior, and loss of consciousness.
EBV infection has two phases, acute/reactivation and latency. During the latent phase, the virus continues to replicate on a small scale, and produces only some of its proteins.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that in light of the medical evidence, individuals concerned about infection with the latent EBV take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural, antiviral supplements was designed to help the immune system target the latent form of the Epstein-Barr Virus.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin formula is effective against the herpes family of viruses. The Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is a member of the herpes family. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the EBV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula of Novirin).” (4) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (4)

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their shared formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

The CDC notes that “Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives.” (5)

What treatments are available for EBV infections?

“A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans.” (4) There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing EBV symptoms. Two of these products are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.

“Based on the results of these medical reviews, and the CBCD’s own research, we recommend that EBV infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
