Disabled Veteran Receives Kohler Generator through CenterPoint Energy's Power a Hero Program

A disabled veteran in the greater Houston area has been awarded an automatic residential standby generator from Kohler Generators.

KOHLER, WI, USA, October 5, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Thanks to the Power a Hero program, made possible by the Texas Sentinels Foundation and CenterPoint Energy’s Standby Generator Program, a disabled veteran in the greater Houston area has been awarded an automatic residential standby generator from Kohler Generators. The generator will be installed at the new home of U.S. Army Spec. Jeramie Green, who was severely wounded while serving his country in Afghanistan in 2013.

“A standby generator – like this one from Kohler – is critically important for brave veterans like Spec. Green,” said Richard Filip, cofounder of the Texas Sentinels Foundation. “In the event of a power outage, he’ll be able to continue on with his daily life. And, perhaps most importantly, Spec. Green and his young family will benefit from the peace-of-mind and sense of security that a home standby generator can provide to anyone who receives care in the home.”

A natural gas automatic standby generator is permanently installed outside a home or small business, similar to a central air conditioning unit using existing gas lines. When utility power is lost, a standby generator automatically turns on – there is no need to be present to start or refuel the generator. Depending upon specific needs, a standby generator can power critical and sophisticated appliances and systems, including lights, heating/cooling systems, refrigerators, sump pumps, security systems and more.

“Providing an automatic standby generator from our friends at Kohler is a small way for us to express our sincere gratitude for the service of these wounded warriors,” said Steve Landrum, manager, product and services marketing for CenterPoint Energy. “This is the third year of Power a Hero and we really appreciate the support and assistance of our participating Generator Program dealers and Kohler who came together to support this worthwhile effort. I also want to offer a special thanks to CenterPoint Energy customers whose purchases of standby generators helped fund the installation.”

In addition to the Texas Sentinels Foundation and CenterPoint Energy – both based in Houston – other companies involved in the Power a Hero program include Loftin Equipment Co., Generator Power Systems, an affiliate of Fish Electric Inc., Generator Supercenter, Quality Generators and Personalized Power Systems.
