EBV Can Make You Lose Your Teeth; The CBCD Reviews a Medical Study

A study found that “Epstein Barr viruses were detected from all types of cases of chronic periodontitis.” (1)

“Infected with the EBV virus? We recommend taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Most people associate the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) with infectious mononucleosis (Mono, also known as “the kissing disease”). However, science is showing that EBV is also linked to an inflammatory condition of the supporting tissues of the teeth called Periodontal Disease (gum disease). Dr. Kazi and colleagues wrote that “various studies have shown that human herpes viruses, especially Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1&2), Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) play a role in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. It is often felt that the development of periodontal disease depends upon cooperative interactions between herpes viruses, specific pathogenic bacteria and destructive inflammatory mediators.” (1) In other words, herpes viruses, including the Epstein-Barr Virus, can inflame the gums and make people lose their teeth. As the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research states, “In periodontitis, gums pull away from the teeth and form spaces (called “pockets”) that become infected ... If not treated, the bones, gums, and tissue that support the teeth are destroyed. The teeth may eventually become loose and have to be removed.” (2) The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) therefore recommends that individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce symptoms associated with EBV infection in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against EBV and other herpes viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with EBV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3) In addition, this natural antiviral was recently proven to reduce mental and physical fatigue in a post-marketing clinical study that followed FDA guidelines.

Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites, here:

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

“Herpes viruses may also mediate damage to the host immune response and thus play a role in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. EBV and HCMV can infect monocytes, macrophages and lymphocytes and can also alter their functions .” (1) What this means is that herpes viruses, including EBV, can hurt the immune system, and change how the cells in the gums behave … which can lead to inflammation and gum disease.

What standard treatments are available for EBV infections?

“A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans.” (2) There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing EBV symptoms. Two of these products are Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin.

In light of the above information, the CBCD recommends that individuals infected with the latent Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.
