Public, tuition free K-8 school in Denver with high quality instruction and social development programs

Cesar Chavez Academy Denver Now Offering Free, Full Day Kindergarten Through Eighth Grade
Denver, CO, US - August 31, 2015 - Established in 2009, Cesar Chavez Academy Denver at 3752 Tennyson Street in Denver, Colorado, offers tuition free, high quality public education to children grades kindergarten through eighth. With a mission to provide Denver’s children with a better educational standard, leadership skills, and a love of learning, CCAD is now happy to announce that full day kindergarten through eighth grade will be free for the 2015-16 school year.
As a college preparatory leadership academy, CCAD presents its students with rigorous academic standards, as is demonstrated in the Colorado Department of Education’s award to CCAD during the 2014-15 school year of the Early Literacy Grant. To receive this grant, schools must identify significantly below grade level students in reading, as well as create a plan for improvement. Schools must then provide evidence of students’ advancement to grade level in reading.
CCAD also provides students with opportunities for community involvement. The school’s middle school leadership program visits businesses near the school in the Tennyson-Berkeley Business District near W. 38th Avenue and Tennyson, and has also participated in neighborhood beautification efforts on Tennyson Street and nearby Cesar Chavez Park. Likewise, students from all grade levels participate in Character Counts, a social development program aiming to prevent bullying and encourage citizenship skills.

The school will host its annual carnival-style fundraiser on Wednesday, September 2, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Also, on Friday, September 4, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., CCAD invites the community to attend an open house featuring appetizers, tours of the school, and a meet-and-greet with Executive Director Kamini Patel and other faculty.
