BRADENTON, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Attorney Bernard Walsh and members of Shapiro Goldman Babboni and Walsh attended the August Dinner and seminar of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board held in Lakewood Ranch Florida.

The August meeting of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board (MTLB) drew attorneys and staff from the Sarasota-Bradenton area prominent law firms. Attendees included Bernard F. Walsh, founder of the MTLB, and other members of Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh including attorneys M. David Shapiro and David L. Goldman of Sarasota, and attorney Elisabeth A. DeWitt of Bradenton.

Speaking at the event was Mark D. Herbst, M.D., Ph.D., who has been Director of MRI for two hospitals (1991-1998), President of Independent Diagnostic Radiology (1998 to present), and Teacher of MRI Physics for 18 years at St. Petersburg College.

Dr. Herbst, gave a lecture entitled "Closed Head Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury,” to an audience that included many of southwest Florida's most experienced personal injury lawyers and paralegals.

Dr. Herbst stated he agreed to speak at the event to allow those who have suffered closed head or traumatic brain injury to be better represented by helping to educate the attorneys that represent them.

In addition to the information and experience shared by Dr. Herbst, attendees of the MTLB dinner and seminar also received two continuing legal education credits known as CLE's. The Florida Bar Association requires attorneys earn CLE credits bi-yearly totaling at least 30 hours of continuing legal education.

Attorney Bernard F. Walsh, founder of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board and partner of Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh shared this comment about the event, “Because closed head injury and traumatic brain injury often do not show outward signs of injury like open wounds, an injured client can often be taken advantage of by an insurance company. However, because of the efforts of exceptional medical professionals like Dr. Herbst taking their personal time to promote awareness and education on TBI and closed head injuries, many in the legal system will be able to better represent their brain injured clients and illustrate to a jury, both the existence of such an injury, and prove the full extent and long term harm that traumatic brain injury can cause the injured and their families. I am honored that Dr. Herbst has taken his valuable time to share his knowledge with us.
