“Infected with a herpes virus? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Those who suffer from a genital herpes infection may be pleased to learn that a new HSV-2 vaccine candidate continues to progress through phase 2 clinical trials according to plan. This means it has passed the very first steps necessary to prove its safety and efficacy. The vaccine candidate is based on vaccine technology developed by Dr. Ian Frazer, who also developed the technology for the current HPV vaccine, Gardasil. According to Admedus officials, study participants are now receiving their second dose of the vaccine candidate. (1) Company officials noted that “The trial is exploring two injection regimens, which will be administered by intradermal injection three times, with a four week break between each injection regime.” (1) Lee Rodne, the CEO of Admedus said “The study is progressing extremely well and we anticipate it will be fully enrolled in the coming weeks, with interim results scheduled for later this year. To date, the safety profile of the study has been very positive.” (1)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) is pleased that the vaccine development process continues according to plan. Removing herpes from the long list of chronic diseases will be an important step forward for medicine.

However, the public should be aware that many vaccine candidates fail during clinical trials. Also, developing an effective, therapeutic vaccine against the herpes virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) and gaining FDA approval takes time. Until this new anti-herpes vaccine is FDA approved, the CBCD recommends that infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin, which are natural herpes remedies with a formula backed by clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the herpes family of viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with HSV-1 or HSV-2 … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin).” (2) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (2)

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims. Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.
It should be noted that “At present, there is no cure for herpes and the infection is life-long. Current therapy for HSV-2 involves daily doses of antiviral drugs which can reduce, but not eliminate, outbreaks and viral shedding, so they can only reduce symptoms but are unable to prevent the spread of the virus.” (1)

What treatments are currently available for those infected with the herpes virus?

“Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (2)

The CBCD points out that there are also the natural antiviral products, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin, which were designed to help the immune system target the latent HSV in those already infected.

“We believe a vaccine that is effective against both the active and latent herpes virus will be a medical breakthrough. However, until such a vaccine becomes available, the CBCD recommends that HSV infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin against the latent HSV.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
