Hear from Retired Squadron Leader and CEO of Unmanned Experts at Unmanned Aerial Systems 2015

SMi’s 15th Annual Conference on Unmanned Aerial Systems will be taking place on 19 - 20 November 2015 in London, UK.

LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM, July 1, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- This year, SMi’s 15th Annual Unmanned Aerial Systems conference aims to explore the most highly relevant and niche developments within the field of UAS’s and UAV’s in relation to the military. Taking place in November 19th - 20th, the event will enable attendees to hear from Air Force Leaders from Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United States as well as organisations such as the EDA and NATO.

In preparation for the conference, SMi have conducted a series of interviews with featured key speakers.
Keven Gambold, Retired Squadron Leader and CEO of Unmanned Experts, will be the chair at this year’s conference and he provided some insight on recent developments and opportunities in the field...
When asked where he sees the biggest opportunities within UAS in relation to the military, he said:

“This is becoming a global arms race, and that provides tremendous opportunities for those with the tools and the talent to support military and government customers. In addition the barriers to entry are dropping rapidly such that very high tech, high spec systems are both available and affordable to developing nations, entities and smaller military users looking to 'catch up'. All of these clients will be looking for equipment, advice and support to bring their programs online.”

Mr Gambold then went on to elaborate what he believes to be the biggest challenges in Unmanned Aircraft System integration within today’s military community…

“The use cases for UAS in military operations are extremely well established, but full adoption of the rapidly evolving technologies in the field always seems to fall short due to 'old school' thinking and sluggish regulations. I heard recently that so many problems can and should be solved by US West Coast 'code' (software) rather than East Coast 'code' (regulations) and that coupled with upper echelon leadership failing to embrace the available systems seems to be the main impediment. To be honest, with the developing world's growing manufacture and use of more and more advanced systems, I suspect that some 'tactical surprise' is in the offing for mature, but slow to evolve, militaries.”
