Rocky Mountain Power to Offer Affordable Solar Program in Utah

July 2015 - Rocky Mountain Power has proposed a new renewable energy program that allows its customers to purchase some or all of their electricity from solar power. If approved by the Utah Public Service Commission, customers who participate in the solar program will have the opportunity to use solar energy without paying for rooftop solar panels and be able to sign up for two, five, seven or ten year commitments to match their electricity use. More specifically, customers can subscribe in 200-kilowatt hour (kWh) blocks up to their total usage. Residential customers will receive a "locked-in" generation rate of approximately 12.8 cents per kWh, which includes transmission and distribution fees. The company plans to build at least 15 megawatts (MW) of solar power systems in Utah specifically for this new program.
