WAKEFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES, April 1, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), a consortium that securely accelerates and advances Grid Modernization through interoperability, today announced the appointment of its 2015 Board of Directors. The Board provides direction, inspiration, and oversight to advance the organization’s mission and goals.

Twelve directors were confirmed by member vote to two or one-year terms on the Board:

- Ed Beroset, Director of Technology and Standards, Elster Solutions — 2-year term
- Andres Carvallo, CEO and Founder, CMG Consulting LLC — 1-year term
- John Caskey, Assistant Vice President of Operations, National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) — 2-year term
- David Forfia, Senior Director, Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) — 2-year term
- Erich Gunther, Chairman and CTO, EnerNex LLC — 1-year term
- Jason Handley, Director of Smart Grid Emerging Technology and Operations, Duke Energy — 2-year term
- Chris Irwin, Program Analyst, Office Of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, U.S. Department of Energy — 2-year term
- Suresh Kotha, Director of Information Technology, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) — 1-year term
- Robby Simpson, System Architect, GE Digital Energy — 1-year term
- Tony Thomas, Principal Engineer, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) — 1-year term
- Nick Wagner, Commissioner, Iowa Utilities Board, National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) — 1-year term
- Steve Widergren, Principal Engineer, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) — 2-year term

The first meeting of the new Board is April 10. Board Officers and Ex-officio members will be selected at that time.
