SAN DIEGO , CA, USA, March 20, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- San Diego Writers, Ink (SDWI) is powering up the computers and excitement as plans get underway for the non-profit’s annual fundraiser event, Blazing Laptops, on June 7, 2015. The goal is to raise $15,000 to support writing programs. Last year, the group raised more than $13,000, which helped sponsor free and low-cost programs throughout San Diego. Forty writers and groups took up the challenge of raising at least $100 each to participate in a day-long writing marathon. Last year’s event included writing prompt sessions, quiet places to write, breakfast, lunch and snacks, chair yoga exercises and prizes for the top earners.

"Blazing Laptops is a really wonderful time of year in that the event brings together writers from many of our groups, classes, and other programs. These writers make an investment in both their writing--many have worked on their books and other projects during this time--and the organization. Last year, these writers contributed almost $14,000 to SDWI during Blazing Laptops, and we couldn't be more grateful," remarked Kristen Fogle, Executive Director of SDWI.

This year’s event will build on the success of 2014 with similar goals and festivities. There are numerous ways to participate.
