MHRA exclusive: Get ahead of the game and hear the latest regulatory and ethical updates in Biobanking

SMi's 11th annual Biobanking conference will be taking place on the 22nd - 23rd June 2015 in London, UK

LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM, March 17, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SMi's are thrilled to present the 11th annual Biobanking conference taking place on 22nd & 23rd June 2015. Biobanking 2015 will bring together Europe’s leading biorepositories, regulatory representatives and scientific pioneers to strengthen knowledge of sample management as well as explore future advances in areas such as biobanking automation and stratified medicine.

Day 1 will address topics such as ethics and personal data protection laws, while Day 2 explores cutting edge technology and biobanking case studies.

An opening keynote address on a study involving more than 500,000 Britons, with a focus on consent, participant characterisation and health outcomes, presented by Professor Sir Rory Collins, CEO from UK Biobank, will be just one of the highlights at the 5th annual conference when it returns to London this June.

The event will also feature an exclusive update from the UK’s medical regulation authority, MHRA. The presentation by UK Stem Cell Bank - MHRA Director, Glyn Stacey, will provide regulatory guidance, address banking stem cells for future therapies and provide unique insight into cell source selection and best practice for the qualification of raw materials.

Understanding the ethical and regulatory framework will be a major, in addition to hearing from a selection of European biobanks currently adding value to clinical research through successful biobanking strategies. As well as the UK Biobank, this will include further case studies from Kings College Infectious Disease Biobank, Brain Bank Consultants, Auria Biobank and the European Sperm Bank.
