Karolina was born in Yugoslavia and came to the United States at age 11, settling in Duluth, Minnesota. She moved to Kentucky in 1996 because she discovered that the University of Kentucky offered a great in-state tuition. "I am a very proud mom" she says, "I'm blessed and grateful to have three beautiful, successful grown children – Alexander, Jovan and Sofia. My sons are UK graduates and my daughter is a Georgetown graduate. My kids have always been my courage, inspiration and true joy in life. Karolina attends Southland Christian Church which is the sponsor of the Jessamine Refuge Clinic in which Karolina has often volunteered. "This is a great and much needed clinic, "she says "because they provide health care for those without insurance."
