The 2nd IEVE, More Substantial and More Abundant.
□ The IEVE is promoted as a part of the ‘Development Project Targeting Leading Industries in Jeju’, and the 1st IEVE(“IEVE 2014“) was successfully hosted in March, 2014. The IEVE, the world’s Electric Vehicle only Expo, brought Jeju into its global presence as the leading city in Electric Vehicle eco system living up to Jeju’s initiatives involving climate change and environmental preservation.
□ IEVE 2015 will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MoTIE), the Ministry of Environment (MoE), the New Renewable Energy Policy Research Forum of the National Assembly and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
◌ Aiming for a global expo, a festival of exhibition and conference, fun and enjoyable expo, as well as creating EV related value, IEVE 2015 offers plenty of events and programs including the exhibition of EV manufacturers, expert conference, EV test drive, student EV competition and familiarization tour for participants and lots of other experiences and attractions. It is expected to grow as a representative MICE (Meeting, Incentive Tour, Convention, Exhibition) brand in the Asia-Pacific region.
□Specifically, 500 EVs were supplied through public offering on EVs this year to the residents in Jeju-do. Next year, 1,500 EVs will be supplied, which is about 50% of the total of EV Supply Plan of 3,000 EVs. It will give more significance to this Expo because public offering will begin during the period of IEVE 2015.
◌ Along with Jeju’s policy to replace public transportation of taxies and buses with EVs, a number of foreign companies from the United States, China and Japan will participate in IEVE 2015 in addition to domestic companies; they include Renault Samsung, KIA, BMW, Nissan and Chevrolet which participated in IEVE 2014. Other participating companies for IEVE2015 will include BYD, Wuzhong, Polaris, Detroit Electric, etc.
◌ These companies will exhibit various EVs including passenger cars and buses, and they will provide a great deal of attractions to Jeju-do residents and other visitors.
□ Moreover, it is expected that various types of EVs including automobile, two/three-wheeled vehicle will be shown. Manufacturers and related industry companies, such as Samsung SDI, charging infrastructure service companies, related parts suppliers, and academic/research institutions will join the expo as well.
◌ In the international conference program, distinguished experts from all over the world will discuss about international attentions as to EV industry trends, international standardization of related technologies, etc.
◌ Official invitation will be sent to the Federal Minister of Environment of Germany, Sachsen Land in Germany, Mayor of Leipzig city in Germany to make the expo more extensive.
□ Chairman, Kim Dae-hwan, of the Organizing Committee noted that “The IEVE 2015 is an important stage in constructing the EV test bed, certification site, and best charging infrastructure to achieve the goal of ‘Carbon Free Island Jeju by 2030’”
◌ Chairman, Kim further stated that “As the annual world’s first EV only expo, I hope IEVE leads the development of the international EV industry”.
◌ Also, he urged attention and cooperation saying “I’m very grateful for your passionate support to IEVE 2014. I anticipate that IEVE 2015, to be held next March, will succeed with the passion from numerous residents and visitors.”
