The Tamil Diaspora have decided to continue with a democratic approach to win the rights of the Tamils.

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) said that using the democratic approach would see the international community supporting the move.

TGTE leader V. Rudrakumaran said that the Tamil community must win the fight for self-determination and the TGTE will seek international support for this cause.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Sunday Leader, Rudrakumaran said that the opposition was clearly weak and this is why they were compelled to nominate a Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) member as the opposition Presidential candidate.

He said that no matter who wins or loses the January election the issues faced by the Tamils will most likely continue and so it is the responsibility of the Tamils to plan their political moves keeping this in mind.

Rudrakumaran also said that the TGTE will continue to push for accountability over the war and for those responsible for war crimes to be prosecuted.
