SNELLS BEACH, NEW ZEALAND, November 27, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SNELLS BEACH N.Z. -- New Zealand author Lynley Smith has teamed-up with Tate Publishing to kick-start the publication process of her new book, "From Matron to Martyr".

A moving fictional diary, Smith tells the story of her distant relative Jane Haining, a Scottish missionary who gave her life in Auschwitz for the sake of the Jewish Children in Budapest during the 2nd World War.

"[So far] readers have responded very emotionally to this story. They call it ‘two cups of coffee and a box of tissues’ because they say they can’t put it down once they start reading [and] of course the ending is sad as Jane dies a martyr’s death… This book has already been used by a Hungarian Christian group in the reconciliation process in Hungary between the Jewish community and the Christian and secular communities. I am using this story as I talk in libraries, schools, churches and Jewish centers, to stifle the tide of anti-Semitism, which is rising fast around the world. Many groups call my talks about the book an important work in the task of reconciliation,” shares Smith

“Jane Haining has been acknowledged as one of the Righteous among the Nations the top award for gentiles by Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem,” she adds.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release, through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Lynley Smith is a proud mother of four daughters and thirteen grandchildren. She is a journalist, teacher, international speaker, and an author. Being a passionate supporter of Israel for many years she has hosted many Jewish people in her home in New Zealand. She is also supported by the Jewish Community in Hungary, Christians for Israel and ICEJ in New Zealand, and by the Holocaust Centre for New Zealand in Wellington. She was inspired to write "From Matron to Martyr" as a piece of her family history and by its clear message of God's love for the Jewish people. The book has been translated to Hungarian and was published in October 2014.
