IT Governance certifies technology vendor MASS to Cyber Essentials Plus

ELY, UK, November 20, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance, the leading cyber security services provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, is pleased to award MASS, a high-tech defence, security and education company, their Cyber Essentials Plus certificate.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “I am pleased to congratulate MASS on successfully meeting the Cyber Essential Plus requirements. Compliance with the Cyber Essentials scheme demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to securing valuable data, and compliance with the scheme is essential to ensure better protection from cyber attacks.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme, which was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government, was developed to keep UK business safe. It aims to offer a baseline for cyber security and sets out the key steps to manage cyber risks.

Since 1 October 2014, the UK Government has required organisations to prove their compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.

The Cyber Essentials scheme applies to small- and medium-sized organisations and large companies alike. British organisations that meet the scheme’s assessment requirements are awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There are two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
