On Thursday, October 23, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman will deliver a keynote address on the EU-coordinated P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran during a two-day symposium organized by Syracuse University’s Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. Leading experts on Iran and its nuclear program are gathering at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on October 23 and 24 to discuss Iranian strategy and state decision-making.

Housed at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs is an interdisciplinary research institute focusing on challenges to global governance and the translation of theory to practice. The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University is committed to scholarship, civic leadership, and education in public and international affairs. Maxwell is home to Syracuse University’s social science departments and to numerous nationally recognized multidisciplinary graduate programs in public policy, international studies, social policy, and conflict resolution.

The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), established by the Norwegian Parliament in 1959, is the country’s leading independent center for research and information on international political and economic issues, and on areas of central relevance to Norwegian foreign policy. The institute is organized as a state body under the Ministry of Education and Research but operates as an independent, non-political body in all its professional activities. NUPI carries out research and disseminates findings on global power relations, security policy, development issues, international economics, and Norwegian foreign policy.

Under Secretary Sherman’s remarks will begin at 5:00 p.m. at CSIS, 1616 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
