Local author signed to publish refreshing, fun new children’s book.

SLOCOMB, Ala. — Tate Publishing announces signing of local author Karen Crider and her soon-to-be-published refreshing children’s book Dandy, Dandy Dandelion.

“I am a panzer. That means I write by the seat of my pants!”
— Karen Crider
SLOCOMB, AL, USA, October 11, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Dandy, Dandy Dandelion is a fun, Christian book about a dandelion that would rather be a real lion. It’s a metaphor about the dissatisfaction of people’s lives mixed with who or what they think they would rather be.

“I am a panzer. That means I write by the seat of my pants,” says Crider. “I love nature and I love metaphor. So they naturally come together. Sometimes, I hear that small, still voice that dictates the keys, and I follow blindly the message. So it was with this piece. It is also a story of myself as well as others I know. I am driven in my writing by the rhythm of the words, the play between them; the message behind the writing; the fun that makes me chuckle, and the challenge to do the best job with what talent God has given me. All this results in not only this book, but every other writing project I joy through.”

When asked about where she sees the future of the book, Crider replied, “I think in the sticky hands of a little girl. Perhaps under the bed with a few spider webs. Or perhaps in a grandmother’s bundle of books waiting to be read to her grandchildren before bedtime, (as a large percentage of grandparents are raising their grandchildren these days.) It wouldn’t surprise me if it ends up resting in some basement sale for a buck. It doesn’t really matter as long as one person gleans something worthwhile from it. Then it is worth the paper it is written on.”

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Karen Crider has been writing for decades along with being an artist. She thinks she became infected as a child, the same way chicken pox infects and reappears in a different form. She never became a writer. She just can’t remember when she wasn’t. She worked part time and raised children as well as grandchildren practicing poetry on them as well, poetry that branched into short stories. Decades later, she attended several colleges and graduated with an associates. She attended writing conferences and writing courses, graduating from the Institute of Children’s Literature. Nothing brings her the joy and satisfaction that only writing brings, especially Christian humor… So she writes.

Crider considers herself a life-long learner and has lived her life as part of a ‘military family’ during her husband’s years of service. He is now retired. Together they live in the country under the old growth of beauty, found in bountiful pecan trees and a redolent rose garden, another of Crider’s passions. She finds reassurance in the exuberance of a twenty-one year grandson, the quiet dignity of old dogs, and her humorous, comfortable husband of forty-seven years.
