Idaho Power Company (IPC) has developed a Renewables Integration Tool (RIT) that enables grid operators to use wind energy more cost-effectively to serve electricity customers in Idaho and Oregon. The tool was developed under a Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) project that invested in new technologies, tools, and techniques for electric transmission, distribution, advanced metering infrastructure, and customer systems. RIT, a series of models and databases for forecasting weather conditions and the availability of wind energy resources, is now fully operational.
