Transfiguration: an Ideal

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- MartinJon Garcia, an artist for more than 20 years began making documentaries to support the arts in the Chicago area. He also developed a scripted comic series about an arts orginization, called Our Cultural Center. His production company, Surmount Studio, has specialized in short video productions in support of individuals with passion. TRANSfiguration, a documentary featuring transgender Christian leaders, is a natural extension of this work. It will be his most ambitious work, to date.

He is assisted by actor and co-producer Eric Feltes who had his own coming out and coming of age event at age 25. Eric had been engaged to a young woman, while struggling with his sexual identity. He remarks that it was a difficult time, but very necessary to his personal growth. Feltes has had roles in several productions in the Chicago area, including Nick in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf,” as well as Garcia’s “Our Cultural Center.”

Sofia Oriana Infante is slated to write the score for this film, and there is a plan to engage musicians from Santiago de Compostela to perform it. Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia, and Sofia’s home town. Sofia’s specialty is composing for film.

Garcia has initiated a Kickstarter crowdfunding event to fund production of TRANSfiguration. There are some very nice rewards for backers. Such as:

• $5.00 : email update, and special thanks emailed from the team – probably from Martin.
• $10.00: a shout out on Facebook and Twitter showing that you are a supporter, and your picture on the website backers page, if desired.

Although every project has risks and challenges, Garcia says that he believes he is prepared to meet them. He has experience with interviewing and filming people, and he has strong community backing. He adds that he has always been a supporter of the arts, and in love with differences. But that the more people he encounters, the more he finds similarities rather than differences. This film although shows differences is about finding that common ground on which we can all stand to make a connection. He goes on to say that there are also internal challenges – but these are challenges that he has been meeting all his life. Of course, there are also external factors which can bring surprises to any project, but he feels confident that Surmount Studio is building a team that can over-come any challenges.
