This past weekend, Tooele's state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports Park hosted the second annual Zions Bank Utah National, marking the season finale for the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Team Honda Muscle Milk's Trey Canard dominated the day's 450 competition by sweeping both motos to clinch his career-first overall win. Canard capped off a successful season by winning four of the last six motos, and wrapping up third in the championship series. Muscle Milk-backed GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac had a solid showing, landing third on the podium with 4-3 scores.

450 Race Team Honda Muscle Milk's Trey Canard seemed very comfortable aboard his Honda CRF450R as he attacked the slick Utah track en route to his first-career overall win with 1-1 finishes. After showing incredible speed in the morning's qualifying practice, Canard secured third gate pick heading into the day's opening race. When the gate dropped in moto one, Canard rocketed off the line to the Motorsports.com holeshot and never looked back. He rode unchallenged throughout the entire 30-minute plus two-lap race to win by a margin of seven seconds. Canard was able to replicate that performance in moto two, grabbing the holeshot once again and leading wire-to-wire all the way to the checkered.

"I've gotten more comfortable in the last few weeks. We made bike changes and it was instant for me in gaining more confidence," explained Canard on his end of season success. "I really have to attribute that to the team and I've had a lot of fun. I've been through such a roller coaster career I thought that if I didn't win today then it would be hard to ever win. I just wanted to put two motos together to give us momentum going into next year."

During Fredrik Noren's final appearance with Team Honda Muscle Milk he posted two impressive come-from-behind performances to secure eighth for the day, moving him into 10th overall in the championship. In moto one, Noren launched off the line and rounded the first turn just outside the top 10. By the completion of the opening lap, he had moved into eighth but went down a couple laps later, sending him back to 28th. He remounted his CRF450R and began a noteworthy charge through the field that ultimately landed him tenth. In moto two, Noren got tangled in a multi-rider pile up on the start straight, leaving him nearly last. Throughout the 30-minute plus two-lap race, the Swedish native made a valiant run, passing 23 riders to claim ninth.

"Today was up and down for sure," stated Noren "I started the day qualifying fourth, which is the best that I have ever done. It sure does make it a lot more fun when you know you are doing so well during practice. I had some problems in both motos with crashes but was able to finish 10-9 for eighth overall. I really wanted to finish the end of the season with a higher result but I am happy with another top 10, and finishing 10th in the championship. I can't thank Team Honda Muscle Milk enough for giving me this opportunity and I hope I made them proud throughout my time with them."

Muscle Milk-sponsored GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac rebounded after a tough weekend in Indiana to wrap up the 2014 season with 4-3 marks for a solid third-place overall finish. Despite only competing in eight of the 12 rounds this summer, Tomac still finished fifth in the season points standings by scoring one win and seven additional podiums. "Being on the podium again is awesome," stated Tomac. "For my first 450 season, I'm somewhat satisfied I would say. I got seven podiums and was able to score my first-career 450 win, which is a huge accomplishment. Hopefully next year I can start the series fresh and go for the championship."

250 Race The Muscle Milk-backed GEICO Honda 250 team had a roller coaster 2014 season but they brought it to an impressive close, posting three top-10 finishes. Justin Bogle led the team's effort, finishing fourth overall with 6-2 scores. Bogle, the reigning 250 East Supercross champion ended up fifth in the points standings. "Today was good," said Bogle. "I actually felt like I rode really well both motos. I didn't get the best start in the first moto and actually made quite a few passes on quite a few people. I felt good but just didn't get the result I wanted. I got a better start in the second moto and worked my way into second but Jeremy (Martin) was riding incredible and was already gone. I'm happy with my performance. It was one of my best motos of the season."

Teammate Zach Osborne had the best performance of his short season with seventh- and ninth-place moto finishes for ninth overall. In only his third professional motocross appearance, RJ Hampshire finished an impressive tenth with 9-11 scores. Lastly, Zach Bell fought through the pain of a broken collarbone to finish 16th overall.

The Focus: Honda World This past Friday, Honda World in South Jordan, UT, played host to the third dealer appearance the Honda Red Riders have attended since the start of the outdoor motocross season. Tons of people showed up for the event that included autographs and even a chance to win a signed Trey Canard helmet that he wore at the Unadilla National. Canard and Noren were on hand, along with Tomac, Bogle, Osborne, Bell and Hampshire, and Troy Lee Design/Lucas Oil/Honda's Cole Seely, Jessy Nelson and Shane McElrath.
