Survey of Christian Homeschool Alumni: 1600 Participants and Climbing

The 2014 Survey of Adult Alumni of the Modern Christian Homeschool Movement remains open to new responses until Monday, September 15 at 11:59pm PST.

“This survey is open to anyone over the age of 18, who was homeschooled for at least 7 years."
— Ryan Stollar, HARO board member
SAN FRANCISCO, USA, August 21, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- This week, an investigative survey was opened to participants willing to share their personal experiences within the modern Christian homeschooling movement. During the first 24 hours, more than 1000 completed questionnaires were collected by Homeschool Alumni Reaching Out (HARO), a non-profit led by past homeschool students who are committed to improving the process for future generations.

According to HARO board member Ryan Stollar, “This survey is open to anyone over the age of 18, who was homeschooled for at least 7 years. We are interested in your experiences, whether they were positive or negative and whether you are still a Christian or not. By ‘Christian,’ we are including the broadest possible definition, including Christian-identified new religious movements.”

“The purpose of this survey,” Stollar says, “is to collect data that past studies of homeschool alumni have not.“

Widely cited statistics from Ray (1994) and Rudner (1999) are now between ten and twenty years old. Meanwhile, more recent studies have been criticized for shortcomings that include poorly worded questions and small sample sizes.

Stollar says, “HARO’s survey was developed in consultation with the nonpartisan Coalition for Responsible Home Education. We have done our very best to create fair, balanced questions without any leading or attempts to skew the results. Surveys are anonymous and the results will be used for informational purposes only.”
