Free webinar explains how businesses can comply with the Cyber Essentials scheme in a few easy steps

IT Governance has announced a new webinar called ‘What is the Cyber Essentials scheme, and, how do we comply?’

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UK, August 15, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance, the fast-growing cyber security services provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the UK Government Cyber Essentials scheme, has announced a new webinar called ‘What is the Cyber Essentials scheme, and, how do we comply?’ on 21 August 2014 at 15:00 GMT. To register your interest, visit: www.itgovernance.co.uk/webinars.aspx.

Led by Alastair Stewart, consultant at IT Governance, this webinar has been developed for IT managers and senior team members who are interested in or have been tasked with helping their company achieve certification to the UK Government’s recently launched Cyber Essentials scheme.

The Cyber Essentials scheme was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government. Organisations that meet the scheme’s assessment requirements will be awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There are two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.

It was also announced that from 1 October 2014, the UK Government will require suppliers from specific industries (including banking) that bid for certain contracts assessed as higher risk, or which require the handling of sensitive and personal information, to be Cyber Essentials certified.

IT Governance has already helped telecoms company Vodafone achieve certification to Cyber Essentials Plus, and is currently providing other clients with Cyber Essentials services.

The Cyber Essentials scheme defines a specific set of controls – manageable within all types and sizes of organisation – to provide basic cyber security. In his webinar, Alastair Stewart will introduce attendees to the scheme and explain the options they can chose from to meet the scheme’s requirements.

The webinar ‘What is the Cyber Essentials scheme, and, how do we comply?’ will run on 21 August 2014 at 15:00 GMT. Registrations are open here: www.itgovernance.co.uk/webinars.aspx.
