Why Wale is the Tupac for the New Generation

(and the savior of soul)

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, July 24, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Tupac back and his name is Wale.

True, their style is a bit different. Their appearance is a bit different. But on a deeper level ,they stand for the same thing. Here's the breakdown:

An icon is a person who symbolizes a certain aspect of the collective culture. In the case of Tupac, he stood for the resurrection of Christ consciousness in hip-hop.

Christ consciousness is defined as a high state of intellectual development and emotional maturity. It is the state of awareness of our true nature, our higher self and our birthright as children of the Most High.

With the Makaveli album, Tupac made the association clear. He died on the cross and was born anew. After completing the album, he said, “The addict in Tupac is dead. The excuse maker in Tupac is dead. The vengeful Tupac is dead. God let me live for me to do something extremely extraordinary”.

Tupac infused light and hope into a genre that had become oversaturated with messages of violence and despair. Who, in the 21st century, best takes his place as today’s hip-hop savior?

According to Tupac:
Hip Hop was supposed to be this new thing that had no boundaries and was so different to everyday music. As long as it has soul to it, hip hop can live on."

Meanwhile, all throughout The Gifted Album, Wale comments on the revival of “the new black soul”. His mission, like saviors before him, revolves around infusing his music with love and hope. In his own words, Wale has admitted:

My job is to inspire the people, to be on top of my game and push my culture forward.

Wale, like Pac, is able to create songs with meaning, depth and soul while still connecting to a mainstream fan base. Just like his legendary predecessor, Wale has a song for everyone – college chics, dudes in the trap, professionals, old people and young. And like Pac, whoever listens to his music is somehow changed for the better – resurrected to a higher level of consciousness.

Another mark of a savior is the ability and willingness to transcend self-interest for the betterment of humanity.

In an interview, Rick Ross recounted how Wale is in the game for the love of music, not the love of money. Almost everything he does shows that his fans comes first. Regardless of how full his schedule may be, he makes a priority to connect with his audience in a personal way.

In his own words:

As much as I don't want to admit it, my fans are the only ones that can hurt my feelings when they're not pleased with what I'm presenting. I want it to be perfect for them. I want them to have a different sense of pride in my music.

The true call of a savior is of course, selfless service. The altruistic acts performed by Tupac and Wale are too numerous to count. Still below is a brief list that exemplifies the nature of Wale’s love for the people:

Gifting a young woman with a $25,000 college scholarship

Giving away retro Jordan 3’s as presents for all

Restoring the Grambling state football team with a donation for new uniforms and new equipment

Acting as an advocate for black women. Wale has said:

"The most horrible feeling in the world was that my women think that I don’t care about them. I’d rather go broke than for my black women to think that I don’t care about them. I would rather lose everything than to have my queens think I’m turning my back on them."

Can anyone say, "Keep ya head up". Right.

Let’s face it. Tupac was dope as hell, by far one of the greatest of all times. Still, while everyone is given their proper respects in death, when Pac was alive haters were running rampant. Naysayers challenged his lyrical content, his character and his decisions. Politicians, and even entire cities were dedicated to hating on this man. The parallels between him and Wale go on and on….

Don’t let greatness go unrecognized because it is in your face.
