Attorney Referrals in Employment Law Cases

// Dallas, Texas, United States // Attorney Keith Clouse (Blog) // Keith Clouse

While many clients come to Clouse Dunn LLP on the recommendation of a friend or business associate who is a former client of the firm, some clients are referred to the firm by other Dallas-area attorneys. Attorneys refer clients to Clouse Dunn for many reasons, including:

• The referring attorney does not feel comfortable with a particular matter’s complexity or lacks subject matter expertise. For example, a general litigation lawyer may not have the knowledge and experience needed to represent a client in negotiations over a severance agreement. • The referring attorney does not have the capacity to handle a time-consuming case. • A conflict of interest prevents the attorney from handling the matter. • The referring attorney believes that co-counsel is necessary. This often occurs when multiple parties have aligned interests but need separate representation. • The referring attorney practices in another city and needs to hire local counsel to assist in the matter. • The referring attorney is not interested in representing the client because of personal reasons.
