Family First HomeCare and Atria Senior Living, both top-notch senior care providers in New Jersey, are working hand in hand to co-sponsor a free seminar on Stroke Awareness presented by Mr. Kanmi Arogundade at Atria Senior Living.

Since stroke is a serious illness that affects thousands of Americans, mostly seniors, every year, they felt only an expert, in the person of Mr. Kanmi Arogundade, an Adult Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in Neuroscience and Rehabilitation, could best do the job.

Aside from being the Stroke Program Coordinator at Morristown Medical Center, he is also a member of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty of the Rutgers University School of Nursing. He holds degrees in occupational therapy, health administration, and nursing. He obtained both a BSN and MSN degrees from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

In the seminar, important subjects regarding stroke will be discussed including the different types and mechanisms of injury, signs and symptom, risk factors and how to reduce them, as well as available treatments, all of which will not only be informative for seniors but also family members, caregivers, or anybody who wishes to learn more about the disease.

“Since both Family First HomeCare and Atria Senior Living share a common goal of providing only the best for the geriatric population, we thought it was only natural that we reached out to the community together,” says Robert Petroro, president of Family First HomeCare. “We are all honored to have Mr. Kanmi Arogundade to impart his expertise and promote stroke awareness as it is a major cause of disability and death in the elderly.”

The free seminar on Stroke Awareness by Family First HomeCare and Atria Senior Living will be held on May 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Atria Senior Living on 10 Jackson Drive, Cranford New Jersey.
