Two Latin groups, La Santa Cecilia and David Wax Museum, will be in concert April 11 at Royce Hall. To kick off the new pricing policy for staff and faculty, the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA will offer tickets to this concert for $15 to all BruinCard holders. The first 100 cyclists who bike to Royce for the pre-concert party can check in to pick up free tickets.

The Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA is launching a flat-rate $25 ticket price for all UCLA faculty and staff, effective immediately.

As a special kick-off celebration, CAP UCLA is inviting all to a free “Fandanguito”event April 11, a joyful evening of Mexican roots music on the Royce Quad starting at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m., two vibrant Latin groups — La Santa Cecilia and David Wax Museum — take the Royce stage. As part of the celebration, CAP UCLA is extending its established $15 student ticket price to all UCLA staff and faculty for the Friday April 11 Royce Hall concert featuring local Latin music heroes and recent Grammy-winners La Santa Cecilia in an exclusive co-bill with Mexican-folk group David Wax Museum.

“It is part of the center’s mission to engage with our immediate community,” said Kristy Edmunds, CAP UCLA artistic and executive director. “This campus is a place of vibrant energy, exuberant discovery and inspiring connection not just for students, but for all of us who contribute to the ethos of the university.”

The new staff pricing policy is effective immediately and applies to the remainder of the performances on the CAP UCLA 2013-2014 season. It will also apply to the upcoming 2014-2015 season, which will be announced on May 7. Tickets will also be sold at the new rate at the theater box office immediately prior to any performance. But first, check the interactive seat map at cap.ucla.edu for a given show to see if there are still tickets available, or call ahead.

A celebratory kickoff

The center is also offering additional ticket incentives for staff this month as a celebratory kick off to its ongoing program.

CAP UCLA has dubbed the Friday night performances April 11 and April 18 of Peter Brook’s “The Suit” at Freud Playhouse as “UCLA Staff Appreciation Nights.” For these nights only, staff can purchase buy-one-get-one-free tickets at the $25 staff ticket rate, up to four tickets.

There’s an added benefit for bicyclists who are being encouraged to make use of the new bike-friendly lanes on campus. The first 100 cyclists who ride in for the free “Fandanguito” event April 11 on the Royce Quad, and check in will be offered free tickets to the Royce concert featuring La Santa Cecilia and David Wax Museum. CAP UCLA is extending this offer in association with the UCLA Bicycle Coalition.

“We at the center are committed to creating a valuable path of discovery and inspiration for all who work and teach and learn at UCLA, “ said Edmunds, “and we hope that affordable ticket access for our most-immediate working neighbors helps do that for many.”
