He also notes that interest rates are rising, making timing critical for buyers wanting to get the best mortgages at the lowest rates.

"Interest rates make a huge difference in affordability for buyers, especially in the purchase of luxury homes for sale," according to Saghafian.

"That's even more reason for buyers who want to sell to enter the market now. Interest rates, if they keep rising, can reduce the affordability of the luxury homes for sale."
