With solemn memories of our fallen heroes, let us and resolve on this Maaveerar Day to act on three platforms! TGTE

Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) salutes the Maaveerar

NEW YORK, USA, December 5, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ --

1) If those who had power and influence on Sri Lanka and on international affairs had followed the path of righteousness and fair play, our Tamil heroes would not have had the need to blow the war trumpet.
2) Maveerar guards and protects the political maneuvers of the leaders both in Tamil homeland and in Diaspora.
3) Realization of the Tamils right to self determination intertwine with the equations of the interests of powerful states.
4) Need a foreign policy of strategic convergences of Tamil political interests and the interests of powerful nations at the ripe moment.
5) Call for the establishment of an institution by the Tamil domestic leadership to coordinate relief efforts.

Today is our Maaveerar Day! This day belongs to the heroic sons and daughters of our soil!! It is the great day of our heroes whose valor and selfless sacrifice which are deeply entrenched in the existence of the Tamil Nation!

Our noble men and women are remembered on this day for their legendary heroism and their utmost faith in the value of freedom and liberation, and for this they shall remain forever in our hearts like the ‘Karthikai’ flowers that blossom in the month of November!

On this day Tamils around the world remember our heroes who gave up their young lives for the noble dream of a free and independent state of Tamil Eelam for our people. On this Maveerar Day, the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam salutes our war heroes and their supreme sacrifice.

Maaveerar as the great souls, the selfless life they led and the ultimate sacrifice they made in the name of freedom have been our history and our progress. Fully aware of the sea of fire they were crossing, they marched on relentlessly and with resolute in order to bring a life of freedom, happiness and security for our people.

Theirs was never a war of aggression, nor was it a war to take over the land of others. It was not a means to grab the lands of others, nor did it have any military, economic or commercial motives as such. It wasn’t a war that was born due to any unrighteous love towards violence.

It was a war waged for the sole purpose of restoration of the rightful place in the island of Sri Lanka for our people. It was taken up in order to ensure our existence, and it was a war that was forced on our nation. It has been a war that was meant to safeguard the Tamils and their lands from the demon of Sinhala chauvinism. It was a war to realize our right to self determination of our people as recognized by the international community under international law.

As clearly stated by our Hon. National Leader, had the Sinhala rulers followed Buddha’s teachings in its true sense, the need for our boys to take up arms and shed blood, a historical necessity, would not have arisen.

Had there been an international mechanism to protect the rights of the people similar to the one that protects states, the need for our heroes to take up arms, fight and sacrifice their lives might not have occurred.

Furthermore, if those who had power and influence on Sri Lanka and on international affairs had followed the path of righteousness and fair play, our Tamil heroes would not have had the need to blow the war trumpet.

As the saying goes, truth does not triumph just because it is a truth. Justice too does not triumph just because it is justice. Both truth and justice must be made to triumph with our wholehearted efforts.

Our heroes fought and sacrificed their lives to make both truth and justice triumph. By their noble deeds, they enriched the meaning of the word sacrifice, giving that word a new connotation.

Due to the valiant struggle of our heroes, a de facto government was established, and that brought the attention of the world on our small nation of Tamil Eelam. The national question of Tamil Eelam assumed an international dimension.

The Tamil heroes have become the symbol of the Tamils’ aspiration for freedom, and they are the guiding force for all of us towards our ultimate goal. They live in the temple of our hearts, and are a source of pride of our nation.

Our heroes name and fame will always be in our hearts wherever we Tamils live.

My dear people,

The de facto state created by our heroes has been under the occupation of the Sinhala chauvinist rulers for the past four years or more. The cemeteries and war memorials of our heroes in Tamil Eelam have been demolished by the Sinhala army of aggression.

The right to pay homage to war heroes by their parents, children and siblings and by other relatives and by the people has been also denied by the Sri Lankan government.

The State of Tamil Eelam that was established by our heroes is now under the occupation of the ugly and unrighteous boots of the Sinhala military with the help of some of the world powers. This inflicts deep-rooted pain in our hearts.

As time goes on without any meaningful changes in sight, many of us begin to doubt whether the sacrifices of our heroes will go in vain.

On this Heroes’ Remembrance Day we are very confident and firm that the sacrifices of our heroes shall never go waste. We say this to the world out loud!

Our heroes are our deities of protection in our political efforts. Our heroes are guarding and protecting the political efforts of Eelam Tamils, so no leader, either in the Tamil homeland or in the Tamil diaspora, can ever undertake any political path or decision whatsoever that shall hurt the ‘atmic’ conscience of our heroes.

In spite of all the oppressive measures being perpetrated by the Sri Lankan army of occupation, our people continue to express their inner feelings. This is made possible by the strength derived from the moral support of our heroes. The planting of trees, lighting lamps and offering garlands of our people today back home are testimony of that strength.

As long as the memory of these heroes remains in our hearts, our aspirations too will never die; every moment these ideals will arise in our hearts, and will live long. Our grand political will for an independent state of Tamil Eelam is synonymous with the thirst of the heroes themselves.

It is now in the hands of the entire Tamil people to make the dreams of our heroes become a reality. It is in the hands of the Tamil people throughout the world, including those in our Eelam homeland, in the Tamil Diaspora, in Tamil Nadu and in other parts of the world, all amounting to more than 80 million Tamils.

Undertaking projects in various parts of the world, wherever Tamils live, to build ‘Maveerar’ Memorials to keep in our memory all these fallen heroes forever will help us to keep our ideals always alive in our hearts.

It is relevant to point out that the monumental success of building a memorial, ‘Mullivaykkal Ninaivu Mutram’, in Tamil Nadu is also a major factor in support of our march forward. We, the TGTE, salute all those selfless leaders and the sculptors and artists, and wish to hold their hands in solidarity, thanking them.

The term, “Mullivaykkal” has become a indelible mark in the collective memory instilled in the minds of all Tamils throughout the world, and this monument of ‘Mullivaykkal Ninaivu Mutram’ shall remain a powerful symbol in our efforts to harness support for our demands for justice and freedom.

At this juncture, we are very much hurt to hear that some parts of the Mutram building, including the park and some portions of the parapet wall have been demolished. While we express our grief, we would like to register our strong protest to the action.

We would like to prevail upon the Indian government machinery, emphasizing the fact that the demolition of heroes’ memorials will amount to disrespect of the fallen heroes, and hurting the feelings of our people who hold these heroes in high esteem.

Friends!

Our nation is downtrodden and oppressed under the control of the Singhalese. By and large, the welfare of our nation is destroyed. Our people are denied justice.

In what dimensions are we going to act to realize the dream of our Maveerar to liberate our people?

We have to function in three dimensions in order to achieve the freedom, well-being, and happiness of our people.

The first is to work to gain recognition by the international community of the Tamil nationhood, homeland and self-determination of our people.

Secondly, we must agitate and achieve accountability and justice for the genocide perpetrated against them by the Singhalam.

The third initiative must be to reinstate the displaced people in their rightful property and provide restitution for what they have suffered under crimes against humanity.

All three issues must be undertaken in their entirety and to their logical conclusion. It is imperative that Eelam Tamils, the Diaspora, the Tamil Nadu Tamils and the 80 million Tamils world-wide participate wholly in this effort.

The inalienable right to self-determination of the Eelam Tamils allows us to determine our political destiny. It has been bestowed on our people by international law. However, in reality the realization of this right is contingent on the equation of the interests of powerful nations.

In view of this restriction, we need to function at two distinct levels.

At one level, we need to garner the support and recognition of our position. We have to labor hard to gain recognition that any kind of political initiative should be based on the fact that we are a nation; the NorthEastern part of the island is our traditional homeland, we are endowed with the right to self determination, and there are two states in the island.

At the second level, we need a foreign policy synchronizing our own interests with the interests of the powerful states at the ripe moment.

We need not be disheartened by the discourse of political resolution within the united state by the Tamil leaders of our homeland. They do not have the political space even to talk about an independent state. The Singhalam will not consent to any political resolution that can be accepted by the domestic leadership without losing the support of the Tamil people.

In the second dimension regarding accountability and justice for the Mullivaikkaal genocide, the acceptance by the international community of the undisputable genocide perpetrated on our people must be an overriding addition to the crimes against humanity and the war crimes by the Singhalam regime.

On this issue, what we witness is that the international community places the Sri Lankan regime and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam on the same weighing scale.

This is not the correct approach.

The Sri Lankan regime is engaged in a calculated, premeditated, and singular genocide that is ongoing to this day. The evidence of this continuing genocide is overwhelming.

There is an obligation on the part of the international community to ensure that other governments do not emulate the “Sri Lankan solution” and adapt genocide as a solution to the national conflicts in their countries.

Thus, it is more in terms of self-interest rather than altruism that the nations of the world need to launch an international investigation and punitive action against Sri Lanka to stand as an effective deterrent to any future genocide in their own countries.

As a direct consequence, the international community should be made to understand the unequivocal requirement of self-determination for our people to protect and safeguard them from the continuing genocide.

These first two dimensions in which we have to function are challenging. The reason for this is that governments revolve on the axis of self-interest.

When the Tamils become a power center, there will be a change in the equation of governments’ interests.

The third dimension concerns the welfare and development of our people in the homeland. For this we have to institutionalize the development efforts. In order to unify the isolated individual efforts now starting, the domestic Tamil leadership should form a powerful institution. Arrangements should be made for the participation of the Tamil diaspora and Tamils across the globe.

The Sri Lankan government will do all in its power to prevent such a confluence of effort. The Sri Lankan government’s sabotage of the Post-Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS) should be taken in account. We must use international pressure we have to build a powerful institution for coordinated development.

It is our duty on behalf of our Maaveerar to function in three dimensions through political and diplomatic efforts towards the common goal of freedom for our Tamil Nation.

It is the call of our times for all organizations to respect the uniqueness and activities of each organization and coordinate their functions in an understandable manner.

Dear Friends!

We are fully cognizant of our destination. At the same time, we are mindful of the pitfalls and difficulties in our journey towards it.

However difficult it may be, this is the choice history has given us.

Unless Eelam Tamils establish a state of their own, there is no other escape from the genocide perpetrated by the Singhalam that is engulfing us today.

In as much as we would weigh with caution every step we take on a perilous climb up a steep mountain, so must we with diligence and fortitude take every step of our journey towards our cherished goal and rightful destiny.

For this it is certain that the Maveerar will bestow moral strength to all of us.

Long live the glory of Maveerar. Blossom the independent state of Tamil Eelam.

The thirst of Tamils is Tamil Eelam
