Hollywood/Los Angeles Beautification Team Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Green Home

Hollywood, CA - March 27, 2008 - In celebration of its 16 years empowering people to change their environments through tree planting, graffiti removal, mural painting, and job creation, the Hollywood/Los Angeles Beautification Team (H/LABT) is holding a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of their new, 'green' headquarters located at 1737 N. Cherokee Ave. in Hollywood on April 4th, 2008 at 8:45 a.m.

The building, developed to better equip the H/LABT to meet the significant increase in demand for their community, vocational, educational and environmental services throughout the city and county of Los Angeles, is to be 'green' throughout – from the environmentally sensitive design and build, to its future focus on training at-risk youth in the fields of urban forestry and environmental sciences.

A number of dignitaries will be on hand for the pouring of the cornerstone, including L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, L.A. City Council President Eric Garcetti, L.A. City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, California State Assemblymember Kevin De Leon, and the Honorable Jackie Goldberg.

Also in attendance will be special guests The Baum Family, Ben Lyons, and famed L.A. photographer Julius Shulman.

The Hollywood/Los Angeles Beautification Team is a 501(C)3 California Non-Profit Corporation. A grassroots organization created by members of the Hollywood and Los Angeles community in 1992, the H/LABT serves communities by improving school campuses, neighborhoods and business districts, as well as by providing educational workshops and vocational training to at-risk youth.
