New Cincinnati Veterinary Practice; Family-Owned with a Family Approach
PAWS Hospital in Symmes Township is now accepting new clients
CINCINNATI—29 July 2010—Cincinnati’s newest veterinary practice offers balanced, comprehensive pet care. Opened in May 2010, Dr. Lisa McMahan is the veterinarian on staff and is supported by several veterinary technicians and assistants.
“Each family and pet is unique and we try to treat them that way. When you bring your pet to PAWS Hospital, you can expect to see me each and every time and together we will make an individual plan for the best care of your pet,” said Dr. Lisa McMahan.
PAWS Hospital is a family business. Dave McMahan, Dr. Lisa McMahan’s husband of 10 years, runs the office and books all appointments.
“Working together as husband and wife is wonderful. I think it’s an added comfort to our clients as well because we’re able to keep a ‘family’ vibe here in the office,” said Dave McMahan.
PAWS Hospital, located between Montgomery and Landen in Symmes Township on Montgomery Road, not only offers basic services like physical exams, vaccinations and nail trims, but also more advanced services like on-site surgery, X-ray, dental cleanings and extractions.
“Being able to offer early drop-off/afternoon pick-up for outpatient surgery is a big plus for our clients and is less stressful on the pet because they are given time to fully recover from anesthesia while being cared for by me and my staff,” said Dr. McMahan.
Besides a traditional exam room, PAWS Hospital features what they call the ‘big dog’ room which is an examination room with a padded floor instead of an exam table.
“It’s great for the big dogs that come in but many of the smaller pets are more at ease on the floor than on a cold, slippery exam table,” said Dr. McMahan. “The comfort of the pet is extremely important to me and when I can get on the floor with the animal to evaluate them, it puts them at ease.”
PAWS Hospital also offers house calls to established clients.
“This can be especially important at the end of a pet’s life. Losing a pet is a very traumatic and upsetting experience for anyone. When we’re able to come to the home it makes for a more peaceful atmosphere so the pet and owner are more comfortable,” said Dr. McMahan.
PAWS will host a grand opening celebration this autumn and also hosts an ongoing five-week puppy training course on Monday evenings.
