KIRKLAND, WA, July 27 2010 -- Meet the Challenge! Kirkland CrossFit Presents the 3rd Annual Firefighter / Police CrossFit Challenge on July 31, 2010 at Northwest University Sports Field in Kirkland, WA CrossFit training is quickly gaining momentum as it continues to enhance the skills and physical ability in Firefighters, Police and Military Personnel. Support your local heroes and come out and enjoy a day of fitness and fun!

Hosted by the Northshore Fire Foundation, Kirkland CrossFit Gym and Northwest Burn Foundation, all active and professional Firefighters, Police and Military in Washington State are invited to compete. Registration is $35 for all competitors to compete in one or more events. This event is free of charge to all spectators. Please contact the Northwest Burn Foundation for further advertising details and additional event information. Those interested in participating can register online at www.nwburn.org.

Participants can compete in an Individual or Strongman competition, Team Event of two or four people, or all three events! All lifts and movements will be measured by the CrossFit standard and judged by a certified CrossFit Trainer. Details of the competition are intentionally being withheld until two weeks prior to the event. Organizers of the Event may pull a Hopper style workout and definitely one that will challenge you to the core! Samples of workouts may be a "Named" workout, a 21-15-9, or a compilation of popular movements such as Burpees, Pull-ups, Thrusters, Row/Run, and Tabata. For specific lifting and movement instructions, review techniques posted at www.crossfit.com or contact your local CrossFit gym.

This year's competition will be held at Northwest University's Sports Field in Kirkland, WA.

The proceeds for the Kirkland CrossFit 3rd Annual Firefighter / Police CrossFit Challenge go to benefit the critical programs offered by the Northwest Burn Foundation.

About the Northwest Burn Foundation

Well into the 28th year of service, the Northwest Burn Foundation has been an integral educational institution in the community. Established in 1982 by parents of burn survivors, firefighters and burn care professionals, the Northwest Burn Foundation has been working to prevent burns and improve the quality of life for burn survivors through programs, research and education in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Some of these programs include Summer Camp for burn survivor's ages 7 to 17 years, Emergency Housing for Harborview's Burn Unit Patients, Support Groups, Burn Prevention Education and Corrective Cosmetic Consultations for burn survivors.
