Stein Isn’t Alone in Wisconsin as De La Fuente Petitions for Recount
The key is that we need to find a way to validate our elections.
FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, USA, November 25, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida, November 25, 2016 – Former presidential candidate “Rocky” Roque De La Fuente filed a petition for a recount in Wisconsin today. While Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, has garnered most of the publicity, De La Fuente had already prepared his notarized petition several days before.— Rocky De La Fuente
After experiencing what he called “election manipulation and fraud” during the Democratic primary, De La Fuente ran as an independent and as the nominee of both the Reform Party and the American Delta Party in the general election. During the general election campaign, De La Fuente almost exclusively focused on the issue of election reform.
De La Fuente said, “I’m a realist. I knew I didn’t have a chance to win the presidency, but I also knew that I could use my candidacy to do something important for the people: provide a focus on the need for substantive election reform.”
De La Fuente was quick to praise Jill Stein’s recent efforts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. “Jill and I were co-plaintiffs in a ballot access lawsuit in Oklahoma, and it appears we’re going to both be challenging the system in Wisconsin where we have standing. She has done a remarkable job in raising the absurdly high amount of money that is required to prosecute a recount.”
He continued, “Unfortunately, a surprising uninformed and apparently biased press has accused Jill of merely serving as a shill for Hillary Clinton and even George Soros. I rather doubt that there is any truth to that, but I know that it doesn’t pertain to me. I ran against Hillary in both the primary and general elections, so I’m not doing this to favor her in any way.”
De La Fuente claims that he is only pursuing a recount because the election was so close in Wisconsin and statistical probability, as well as known vulnerabilities in the equipment used to do the counting, suggests that the integrity of the election might be in question.
When asked directly if he was doing this to change the results, De La Fuente answered, “I’m doing this for one reason and one reason only: to determine that the election reflects the will of the people. Election reform has been my number one issue throughout the entire general election.” He added, “For all I know, we may well find out that President-elect Trump won by an even wider popular vote in Wisconsin than it initially appeared. If that’s the case, then the people are entitled to know it.”
“The key is that we need to find a way to validate our elections,” said De La Fuente. “People can go to the election reform pages of my website to learn about what I experienced in the primaries, and to a lesser degree in the general election and draw their own conclusions, but our system is broken and we can’t afford to ignore it any longer.”
De La Fuente says he will continue to make election reform his number one issue because “it’s just the right thing to do.”
